Durga Puja 2023 starts on 20th October 2023 (Maha Sasthi) -on 24th October 2023 (Bijaya Dashami).
Mahalaya is on 14th October 2023, the last day of “Krishna paksha. On this day the eyes of Ma Durga idols are painted, marking the start of Durga Puja’s journey.

Hatibagan Sarbojonin Durga puja celebration is nothing but color and festivity keeping viewers awe-struck and mesmeric by seeing the divine idol of Ma Durga. The artwork selected by the committee of Ma Durga astride muscular Mahishasura and the lion at the side is spellbinding.

The puja was started in 1936 at Rajballav Para in a garage and now has been one of the famous North Kolkata Durga puja pandals. You should come on Bijoya Samilani (the last day of the Durga puja celebration).
Jagat Mukherjee Park committee took the fame light when they adopted the theme of “Jolchobbi”, an underwater world. The main reason Ahirtola Sarbojanin Durgotsab will always is close to my heart is because during COVID when the income of the “kumaras” in Kumartulli was almost nil due to the Lockdown they were constantly supporting them.
Ahirtola Sarbojanin Durgotsab celebrates in the most traditional way bringing Dhaks, following old rituals and considered as “barowari types Durga puja”, involving a lot of people. They blend the thematic design of pandal and color so beautifully that they received various types of awards from Zee Bangla, Asian Paints Sharod Samman, Kolkata Municipal Corporation, and Anandbazar.

Atindra Nath Bosu, a revolutionary and social organizer started the Durga puja celebration in 1926. Initially, Simla Byayam Samity was designed as a body-building center to train them against British power.
Bhaga Jatin, Aurobindo Ghosh, Swami Vivekananda, and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose were all associated with Simla Byayam Samity.
